Devaki Pandit was conferred the prestigious ‘Sangeet Natak Akademy Puraskar’ for her contribution to Hindustani Vocal Music. She is recognized as one of the foremost singers in the Hindustani Classical tradition and an eminent exponent of Jaipur & Agra Gharana. As a classical vocalist, her oeuvre is as diverse as it is impressive with over four decades of performing experience in varied genres of music. Be it classical albums devotional and spiritual titles, Marathi and Hindi film songs she has proved her virtuosity in all of them by being true to their essence. It was her privilege to have sung for the film Saaz under the music direction of the great legendary maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain as was singing for eminent music directors like the Late Sudhir Phadke, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Ashok Patki, Shrinivas Khale, and Anand Modak from Marathi music film industry to the Hindi film music maestro Late Naushad ji, the famous Bollywood duo Jatin-Lalit, and a Ghazal album with Shree Hariharan ji that she gracefully looms for more than four decades in the field of Indian Classical and semi-classical music.
