Documentary filmmaker, television producer, and presenter Siddharth Kak is well known for
producing and hosting Surabhi (1991-2001). Having produced over 100 documentaries and other
long-running television programs for India's top television channels, Siddharth Kak's Cinema
Vision India television company has won three National Awards, as well as several major
Television Awards.
For the Prime Minister's Skill Mission, Siddharth Kak is now producing and hosting the
primetime reality show HUNNARBAAZ! Mission Skill India! in association with the Ministry of
Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the National Skill Development Corporation
(NSDC). In addition, he serves as the Founder Trustee of the Surabhi Foundation for Research
and Cultural Exchange (Surabhi FORCE), which generates national culturally significant
projects.
The National Short Feature Film Awards, the Indian Panorama Selection Committee, the
Ministry of Textiles, the Government of India, the International Selection Panel of Judges
for the "UNESCO-Seal of Excellence for Handicrafts" Award, the Suraj Kund Mela Authority,
which oversees India's largest annual Crafts Festival, and other positions he has held
include member and chairperson (twice). At present, he is a member of the Governing Board of
the Central University of Jammu and the Executive Council of the Central University of
Kashmir.
A well-known food enthusiast, he has produced and directed two wildly popular food series,
The Good Food Guide and the Star Sunday Lunch, in addition to writing food pieces for
numerous national newspapers. Star Television broadcasts both of these shows. In addition,
he wrote and published the poetry collection Looking in Looking Out and created the Surabhi
ke Sau Sawaal quiz book, which explores Indian heritage. Siddharth Kak’s television company,
Cinema Vision India, has won several major television awards and three national awards. It
has produced more than 100 documentaries and several long-running television series for
leading television channels in India.
