Shivani Singh is a novelist who writes historical fiction. Her first novel Raja is Dead was published by Harper Collins in India and Romania. Secret of Sirikot and Lonely Gods was published by Hachette. Nalanda, published this year by Amaryllis will also be available in Hindi and Marathi.
Author Shivani Singh made a giant impact on the audience by sharing her thoughts on Nalanda and its suppressed history. Nalanda is the oldest university, and her book is based on this ancient university established in medieval times. Her book"Nalanda" is a work of fiction with dramatic twists, heavy philosophical elements of wonder, mystery and history. She talked about the numerous monastery establishments of the medieval era and how the destruction of Nalanda and other Buddhist Monastries led to the disappearance of the rich history of that period. With a giant gap in the history of that time, it's been an exciting journey for Ms Singh to trace the path of Nalanda University and its events. She talked about how every conceivable subject on the earth was taught at Nalanda. The session on Nalanda was very interactive as she discussed the perception of Buddhism, what it was and the way it is perceived today. The session witnessed an exciting discussion on the Golden age of Nalanda University and the unknown history of that period.
