Sawani Shende-Sathaye Indian Classical Vocalist
Born into a legacy of rich musical heritage, Sawani Shende-Sathaye is an acclaimed Hindustani classical vocalist representing the Kirana and Gwalior gharanas. Trained from childhood by her grandmother Smt. Kusum Shende and later guided by her father Dr. Sanjeev Shende and the renowned vocalist Dr. Veena Sahasrabuddhe of the Gwalior Gharana, Sawani carries forward the timeless traditions of Indian classical music with depth and devotion.
A graded performing artist of ICCR, she has captivated audiences across India and the world with her soulful Khayal presentations and expressive renditions of Thumri, Dadra and other semi-classical forms. Her artistry is defined by a powerful blend of melodic purity, emotional nuance, and aesthetic finesse.
Recipient of many prestigious awards including the Aditya Birla Kala Kiran Puraskar, Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar by Sangeet Natak Academy, Swaronmesh Puraskar, Pandit Jasraj Gaurav Puraskar and Maharashtra State Award for Best Playback Singer, Sawani continues to shine both on classical concert stages and in playback music.
She has authored Hriday Swar, a collection of self-composed bandishis, and features in international collaborative albums promoting global harmony through music. Based in Pune, she mentors students through the traditional Gurukul system, nurturing the next generation of classical musicians.
