Dr. Sadhana Shiledar is a well known performing artist of Indian Classical Music from Central India residing in Nagpur. She is a disciple of Dr. Vivek Gokhale (father), Pt. Manoharrao Kaslikar, Pt. Chandrashekhar Rele and Smt. Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar.

She is a Professor, Head of the Department of Music and Director at Vasantrao Naik Govt. Institute of Arts and Social Sciences, Nagpur (Formerly known as Morris College, Nagpur)

She has performed in various music circles and music festivals in India. She has also performed on various TV channels. She is All India Radio approved artist for Indian Classical Music. Along with Khayal Gayaki she also performs semi classical musical forms like Thumri, Dadara, Natya Sangeet, Nirguni Bahjan in concert.

She is also a scholar in musicology. Dr. Sadhana Shiledar has done her research work on ‘Khayal Gayaki in Indian Classical Music’. Subsequently she has also done extensive research work on the process of creation of Raga from folklores. Book titled ‘Creative process of Raga creation from the folk tunes’ published in Marathi and Hindi. While understanding this process, she has created three new Ragas from three folk tunes. The details of these ragas along with singing is available on You Tube. She has extensively collected more than two hundred Bandish from the Bandishkars of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra and the collection titled ‘Kahat Gunujan’is published along with CD containing the singing of these Bandish.

She has presented many innovative musical programmes on various themes, the list is appended.

She has been regularly writing on Music and Musicology. She has also presented papers in various conferences and given lecture demonstration on music related topics.

She is honoured by many awards as an Indian Classical Singer. Some of them are ‘Surmani’ award by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai and Natyacharya Kakasaheb Khadilkar Award by Balgandharva Rasik Mandal, Pune and ‘Sur Janhavi’ by Swaramegh Arts Foundation, Nagpur.
