R. Gopalakrishnan studied Physics at the University of Calcutta (Kolkata), Engineering at IIT Kharagpur, and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. A professional manager since 1967, he has held several prestigious leadership positions, including Chairman of Unilever Arabia, Managing Director of Brooke Bond Lipton, Vice Chairman of Hindustan Lever, and Director of Tata Sons along with several Tata companies. He also serves as an independent director of the Press Trust of India (PTI). Popularly known as "Gopal" among his friends, he now spends his time writing, advising, speaking, and teaching.
