Devashish Makhija is a filmmaker, screenwriter, author, poet, and multi-practice artist. His literary work includes the collection of short stories Forgetting, the YA novel Oonga, the children’s picture books When Ali Became Bajrangbali, Why Paploo Was Perplexed, We Are The Dancing Forest, Go Go Flamingo, and Blue, as well as the poetry collections Bewilderness and Occupying Silence.
As a filmmaker, he has written and directed the feature films Joram, Bhonsle, and Ajji, along with several award-winning short films, including Taandav, Cycle, El’Ayichi, and Absent. His work across cinema, literature and visual art reflects a distinctive interest in stories that question social realities and familiar ways of seeing. Most of him can be found on his website.
