Abhayanand is a 1977 batch IPS officer who led Bihar Police as its 48th DGP, following in his
father’s footsteps, who served as the 28th. Acclaimed as a ‘thinking policeman’, he has many
feathers to his cap through his innovations that brought about a paradigm shift in policing. He is
the brain behind Speedy Trials, Special Auxiliary Police, SVU and many more experiments which
caught the national limelight. A man with razor-sharp intellect, passionate about building a career
in Physics, he continues his passion by teaching poor students for getting into the NITs and IITs
of the country. His concept is popularly known by the name Super 30. He continues to transform the
lives of thousands of children who have found their feet in life.
Post-retirement, he lives in the lap of nature, in a village on the outskirts of Patna and is now
experimenting with the concepts of health and nutrition. In this effort, he has joined his daughter
Richa, an IITian herself who resigned from the post of VP at Morgan Stanley and has dedicated
herself to creating awareness in this direction.
In the last few months, society has seen a new dimension of his personality, that of an author. His
book “Unbounded: My experiments with Law, Physics, Policing and Super 30”, is a true reflection of
the “Unbounded” person he is. The book was launched at Patna on 20th August in a highly
unconventional event which was bereft of a Chief Guest but was addressed by intellectuals and
people outside the police instead. The book has hit the shelves nationwide and has become a ‘Best
Seller’ on Amazon within a month of its launch.
