Susmita Mukherjee is an Indian actor, author, screenwriter, and artrepreneur. She is the author of several books including Baanjh: Incomplete Lives of Complete Women released in 2021. She has written scripts for popular stage plays like Nati and Kalashri and received the NFDC (National Film Development of India) Award for the same. Nati played to full houses at Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai and elsewhere. She has delivered remarkable performances on the big and small screen as well.

Making her debut with Yeh Vo Manzil Toh Nahin in 1987, she has done trailblazing work in her journey in the theatre, television, and film industry. Popularly known for her role as Kitty in the detective sitcom Karamchand, she has served the industry for more than 37 years. She has acted in more than 100 films and was recently seen in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. She has appeared in films like Kya Kool Hain Hum, Golmaal, Dostana, and many more. Her versatility is evident in her performances in the negative and supporting roles as well.

A graduate of the National School of Drama, she runs a non-profit organization - Rudraani Kalagram, intended to promote local art in Madhya Pradesh. She is the founder of Naatak Company, a theatre group formed in 1988, and manages her husband's production house - Prayas Production. She has showcased her acting skills in many shows on the small screen including Balika Vadhu, Khichdi Returns, Jagannath aur Poorvi ki Dosti Anokhi, and the latest to mention the popular sitcom Meri Saas Bhoot Hai.

She has worked in Amazon Prime's web series Mind The Malhotra's alongside Cyrus Sahukar and Mini Mathur. Susmita made her Hollywood debut with The Other End of the Line, which starred Shriya Saran and Jesse Metcalf. Her international endeavors include Sold, released in 2016 and directed by Oscar-winning director Jeffery Brown.
