Sadanand More is a scholar of saint literature and the social traditions of Maharashtra, and a commentator on contemporary events. He served as president of the 88th All India Marathi Literary Conference at Ghumman. In 1998, he received the Sahitya Akademi Award for Tukaram Darshan in the criticism category.
He holds M.A. degrees in Philosophy and Ancient Indian Culture and History. His Ph.D., The Gita: A Theory of Human Action, received the Gurudev Damle Award for best thesis. At Pune University, he served as Head and Director of the Department of Philosophy and held positions at various study and research centres. He was also a recipient of the Maharashtra Government’s Best University Teacher Award.
His works include Tukaram Darshan, Lokmanya te Mahatma, Garja Maharashtra, Maharashtrachi Lokyatra, Dnyanba Tukaram, and works on Phule, Tilak and Krishna. He is the founder of the Varkari Sahitya Parishad.
