Manish Tewari is a three-term Member of Parliament, currently representing the Chandigarh Constituency (Union Territory) in the Lok Sabha (House of the People) since June 2024. He previously served as the Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting in the Government of India.
He currently serves on the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance, the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of External Affairs, the Joint Committee of Parliament examining the One Nation, One Election legislation, the Committee on Privileges (Lok Sabha), and as President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Australia. During his previous term in Parliament, he served on the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance and the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of Defence. He has also served on the Joint Committee of Parliament that conceptualised the Data Protection law, and on the Joint Committee of Parliament that examined the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2022.
Manish Tewari practices law at the Supreme Court of India and in various High Courts across the country. He is an international arbitrator with a specialisation in traditional and new-economy laws.
He was elected Member of Parliament from Ludhiana, Punjab, from 2009 to 2014, and from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Punjab, from 2019 to 2024. He was a Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council in Washington, D.C., from 2016 to 2019.
In addition to his parliamentary and professional responsibilities, he serves as Senior National Spokesperson of the Indian National Congress (INC), General Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Department of the INC, and Permanent Invitee to the Congress Working Committee (CWC).
He has authored and published five books on constitutional governance, international law, national security law, and international relations:

He has moved several bills in Parliament, including those seeking to provide a legal basis and parliamentary oversight for India's intelligence agencies and other law enforcement structures. A widely published columnist, he writes regularly for a diverse array of national and international publications on international relations, strategic affairs, international security, and the emerging domains of cyberspace and artificial intelligence.
Manish Tewari served as National President of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) from 1988 to 1993, President of the International Union of Students (IUS) from 1992 to 1994, and National President of the Indian Youth Congress from 1998 to 2000.
