Dharmendar Kanwar is a profound travel writer. Her love for travel and writing emerged soon after her graduation leading her towards professional writing. She has written a variety of scripts for television documentaries and has contributed photographs and stories to almost all the eminent magazines and newspapers in the country. She was closely associated with Rajmata Gayatri Devi and is the Managing Trustee of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh Benevolent Trust, a charitable association initiated by the late Rajmata. She is also the Convenor of the Jaipur Chapter of INTACH.

She is a full-time writer and devotes her time to heritage conservation as well. In her remarkable career of over 30 years, she has widely worked to promote the art and architectural heritage of Rajasthan. Among the many awards that she has received, there is the Maharaja Vishan Singh Award for her immense and effortless contributions to the field of Travel and Tourism (2012). She was also awarded the Best Travel Writer (English) in 1993- 94 by the Government of Rajasthan.

She has worked with Rajasthan Tourism and has created several award-winning books and brochures. She is also the author of the Times of India Jaipur Food Guide since 2012. She has published her reviews for the same. Possessing a keen interest in designing, she has produced creative brochures, cards, booklets, souvenirs, t-shirts, posters, and annual reports.She has been awarded by many renowned organizations for her honorary efforts and contributions.

Among her many publications are two biographies of the celebrated Rajmata Gayatri Devi of Jaipur - Enduring Grace and The Last Queen of Jaipur. Other titles to her credit include – Rajasthan, Jaipur, The Jewel of Rajasthan, Delhi-Agra-Jaipur, Colourful Rajasthan, Jaipur: 10 Easy Walks, Temples of Jaipur, Palace on Wheels, Royal Rajasthan on Wheels, Hadauti: The Unexplored Rajasthan, Chittorgarh: The Braveheart of Rajputana and Rambagh Palace.
