Women empowerment - positive reinforcement of women entering male-dominated professions, Minni Vaid, Kaveree Bamzai, Nandita Om Puri, Harshali Singh Kaul In Conversation with Monica Bhagwagar

On 28th Nov 01.00 pm - 01:40 pm

I think it's a gigantic task. Women work from home, work for home. Women have been doing this thing for years and years without having anything. The current generation of women know exactly how much their mothers sacrifice, and that's why we are here doing something significant. Big gaps in pay, gender, and social-economic gaps still exist in society. This generation of men perhaps could share the burden of what women carry.

Kaveri Bamzai on "Let's Talk about Stars and Stardom in Bollywood" In Conversation with Shabbir Shakir

On 28th Nov 03.00 pm - 03:40 pm

I always chased Bollywood over Hollywood. All starts of Bollywood are so high status now. When I began in 1988, professionally, there were no steps, but stardom came easily. At that time reaching to star was easy if you knew the secretary number. Actually, in those days, stars answered the phone by themselves. Now the level of engagement between start and journalist has widened. These days all-stars have around 12 people around at any point—people such as make0up man, hairstylist, social media manager, stylist etc. Stars only give interviews to promote films, and that is it. They want to e written about on our terms and not on their terms. All the controversies around stars are not deliberate, such as the Black Buck killing case of Salman Khan, running over a car on a footpath; these were uninvited. But yes, many times, a star wants to move a story even if it is negative. For example, Amir Khan Divorce was very well stage-managed to wipe out an unnecessary murmur. So they propagate stories which find suitable. Stars who spoke against the Government, in whatever the case may be, have negative consequences like tax raids etc. So they should avoid such powerful forces as Governments. And many do the same.
