Dr. Deepa Prasad Venkatraman is an Hotel Management alumnus from IHMCT- Mumbai. A seasoned Hospitality Professional and Educator for the last 25years Her core expertise is in Food & Beverage Services and Management. She is a Doctorate in Management, and her thesis was on Wine Consumption Patterns.

Dr. Deepa P. Venkatraman started her career with the Taj Mahal, Mumbai and was associated with the various hotels of the Taj Group as Manager in Food &Beverage Department. During her tenure with the Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai she was part of the core Banquet team which won the FHRAI Banqueting Award in the Business Hotel Category in 1995.

Her core strength as a professional has been teaching Food & Beverage service, Beverages with Wines, Management subjects , International Etiquette, communication skills, personality development and allied subjects to graduate, post graduates students of Pune University, hospitality sector, educational institutes and offered consultancy to corporate sector.

She has authored four books in Food & Beverage Service and International etiquette. She was invited as a speaker in Orange city Nagpur literature fest 2019 for session on Hospitality and Etiquette.

Currently Spear heading and a Coordinator for a pioneering course BBA (Hospitality and facilities management) introduced under the aegis of Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA) at Savitribai Phule Pune University.

In Savitri Bai Phule Pune University she has additional charge of facility management of the University, and in the department is in charge of entrepreneurship, social responsibility, cultural and sports and organising and moderating seminars, International webinar series and panel talk.

She has won awards for innovation in hospitality sector and honour for her contribution by Ministry of tourism, Government of India. Innovation and research is her domain area has led her to be invited and be part of International panel discussion in conferences as well as publish more than 30 research papers in UGC approved journals.

Research work and activity is her core expertise and invited as jury of plenary session for International conference, is an external member and research cell coordinator for institutes in Pune. She is a research guide in S.P.P.U. for six students under the faculty of Management in Hotel Management and has one student received his doctorate under her guideship.

She is involved in active research and innovation in operation subjects and won the Hospitality Educators Award 2019 in Innovation in Hospitality studies. Currently launched an E- Magazine Reflection which is a linkage with the Corporate leaders of the Industry their outlook and learning outcomes of their session in department.

Her proficiency for Total Quality Management, and its application in Institutes has led to being involved in Curriculum revision and formulation for BHMCT (2008 & 2016), BSc (Hs) (2017), BBA(HFM) (2018) course and MTM (2020) for University of Mumbai. As a professor was IQAC and a NAAC coordinator steering her team to receive A grade for the Institute. Conducts NAAC workshop for other institutes.

She is a member of the board of studies at SPPU for Hospitality studies. Conducted UGC HRDC & SPPU, Faculty development programme and workshop. Member of committee for Online entrance exam, for E- content development for the course and part of various committee for University administrative work and duties.

She has a close association and wide reach with the Global corporate leaders in hospitality sector, Retail sector, Facility sector, wine industry and educational Institutes and has offered consultancy services (Mint Hospitality consultancy) in restaurant planning and design, Menu Matrix and Management for educational institute’s, universities and hospitality sector.

An outdoor and adventure enthusiast, truly believes in adage “Impossible is nothing “and passionate about empowering her students with professional attributes before entering into the Corporate sector.
