Novel to Movie Adaptations - Rajesh Iyer Nilutpal Gohain Suhail Mathur In Conversation with Anirban Bhattacharya

On 20th 04.00 PM To 04:40 PM

Mr. Anirban Bhattacharya - started the session by providing an adorable introduction of All dignitaries for the discussion. Novels and movies are used by people as Entertainment tools. According to Mr. Rajesh Iyer and Mr. Nilutpal Gohain, Writing a Novel is not everyone’s cup of tea, it requires a lot of patience sometimes it takes Years and years to create one single novel, if it is interesting as a reader you can Finish reading the novel in a few days. As words have immense power to create the Visual picture in front of us that allows us to travel. The kind of experience writing a novel gives is truly unexplained. There was discussion about the book released by Mr Rajesh Iyer on the book titled” Uncle pie” and other old comic series and stories book which we read at a young age. Reading books not only gives us information but also allows us to know our mythological, heroic characters. Mr.Suhail Mathur - shared his experience in production. He said Bollywood Producers follow trends instead of taking risks in the production of the movie. There are various advantages of OTT. Nowadays, fiction is not liked much as compared to Nonfiction. Producers need to be more experimental and larger than life always don’t work. The producer should readjust their focus on the message as well as Entertainment. How the production of movies affects the young mind as they are more inclined to watch movies instead of reading books. Words are getting replaced with visual effects, dialogues and setups where the story is conveyed through movies. But today's generation is living in a digital so they understand, remember and learn new things through digital media quickly but we can't deny the traditional way of storytelling to young children. Movies and novels are inseparable when we think of gaining knowledge and getting entertained. Mahabharat people get to know through Amarchitrakatha. The writer of the novel shares the rights to produce, a certain share of profit should be given to the writer as five to ten per cent is too less. As it is increasing the gap between writer and producer.
