Anuradha Marwah Anuradha Marwah is a distinguished professor of English at Zakir Husain Delhi College and an acclaimed author of four novels and five plays. Her novels, include "The Higher Education of Geetika Mehendiratta" (1992, 2022), "Idol Love" (1999), "Dirty Picture" (2007), and her latest book "Aunties of Vasant Kunj" (2024). Her books are known for insightful exploration of contemporary issues, storytelling and character building in the literature world. Her work has also been featured in academic courses across American and Indian universities. Additionally, her short story "Womanscape in Tis Hazari" is included in the ICSE textbook "Treasure Chest" for classes IX & X, and an excerpt from "The Higher Education of Geetika Mehendiratta" is part of the NCERT's "Voices: An Anthology of Indian Women Writers, A Supplementary Reader in English for Middle Stage.
Adding to her literary glory, Ms Marwah is also loved for her contributions to the theatre. Her plays have been widely performed, with "Ismat's Love Stories" being shortlisted for the Hindu Playwright Award 2016 while enjoying several houseful performances in Delhi and Bengaluru. Her direction of the Hindustani adaptation of Medea in 2019 has also received critical acclaim and was featured in India's first community-curated theatre festival at Shadipur.
Ms Marwah holds a PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University in the field of the Market for Contemporary Indian Fiction. She has been awarded the prestigious Charles Wallace Writer's Residency (2001) in the UK and the Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence (FNAPE) fellowship to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (2017), where she served as Visiting Faculty at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Study of Global Change (ICGC). At ICGC, she taught creative writing and drama courses, reflecting her lifelong passion for these disciplines.
In addition to her novels and plays, Ms. Marwah has published numerous articles in respected national and international journals. Her active contributions to the literary community as a member of the Indian Association of Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies and the Board of the School of Gender and Development Studies (SOGDS) at IGNOU have left a significant mark. She also served as a guest editor for the fourth volume of "Illuminati: A Transnational Journal of Literature, Language, and Culture Studies"; in 2013-14.
Ms. Marwah's dedication to social causes is a testament to her character. She runs a community NGO in Ajmer, Rajasthan, focused on the education and development of rural and underprivileged adolescents. Her extensive body of work and ongoing contributions to literature and education continues to inspire and influence readers and students worldwide.
